INGREDIENTS:
¾ cup soft butter or
margarine
1¼ cups brown sugar
1¼ cups flour
1½ cups rolled oats (I prefer the quick ones)
DIRECTIONS:
Cream butter; add in brown sugar, then flour. It should start to look a bit
crumbly; if not, add about ½ cup more flour. Stir in rolled oats, and now it
should be really crumbly. Sprinkle (or dump by the spoonful) the topping over
the apples. Bake at 325*F for about 45 minutes, or until top is browned and
apples are soft. Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving. The apples
will be very hot. As it cools, it will settle in the dish. Serve on its own,
with cream, whipped cream or ice cream.
6 to 12 peeled, cored and slice McIntosh apples – or the number that it takes
to fill a 9x11 glass pan to the top – well, almost to the top. Put the apples
into the pan, sprinkle with ½ cup white sugar and 1 to 2 tsp ground cinnamon,
then top with the following:
